Maya Hayes is currently a graduate student in social work at the University of Texas at Austin. She hopes to utilize her research and community organizing skills to advocate for racial and criminal justice reform in Texas. In 2023, she obtained her bachelor's degree in social work from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, where she created an on-campus program designed to enhance professional development and workforce readiness for black female students. Currently, Maya is eager to deepen her understanding of transformative and restorative justice within the juvenile justice system, as she engages with the LSJA and her ongoing juvenile justice class.
